
This year’s showcase is hosted by the SSA Digitalization Committee, and its start-up workgroup worked tirelessly to curate the event and interest start-ups to exhibit. With 20 startups in attendance and an impressive turnout of over 130 maritime professionals and investors, the atmosphere at the event was one of with innovation and opportunity. The startups came from numerous backgrounds from sustainability, data driven applications to cybersecurity and safety.
Singapore has retained its title as the leading maritime city in the world according to the 2024 Leading Maritime Cities (LMC) report from DNV and Menon Economics, where it was noted that they have managed to develop vibrant start-up ecosystems, also taking advantage of highly qualified local talent.
Elaine Toh, Marketing and Communications Manager at Pelagus 3D an additive manufacturing startup, expressed profound appreciation for the platform the showcase provided. She remarked, “Being a part of the SSA Tech Showcase has allowed Pelagus 3D to better connect with industry experts and encourage the adoption of technological solutions – in our case, additive manufacturing of on-demand spare parts – in Singapore’s maritime industry.” Elaine emphasized the invaluable networking opportunities and the potential for collaboration and growth that such events foster, highlighting the importance of partnership and cooperation in driving progress within Singapore’s maritime ecosystem.
Ken Soh of Athena Dynamics a cybersecurity company echoed similar sentiments, extending gratitude to SSA for spearheading the initiative. He praised the showcase’s unique emphasis on salient issues in the maritime sector, including Maritime Cyber Security, Sustainability, and Safety, all directly relevant to visitors and exhibitors alike. Ken foresaw a multitude of collaborative possibilities emerging from the showcase, underscoring its apparent potential to evolve into a larger and more impactful event in the future.
The SSA Tech Showcase aims to serve as a catalyst for future innovation and collaboration within Singapore’s maritime industry. With startups showcasing cutting-edge solutions and industry professionals and investors actively engaging with these innovations, this is a step towards nurturing a vibrant maritime tech ecosystem in Singapore.
